In Network Versus Out of Network Dental Why we choose to be out!

We are proudly out of network with all insurance companies, which means we have no contract restrictions compromising honest quality dental work across a full range or procedures. Close attention is paid to details. We spend time listening to and informing our patients in a traditional doctor patient way.
We sell dental services directly to the public. Treatment is based on sound dental procedures and years of clinical practice. We price our work for what we can do it for. Your money goes directly into high quality conservative treatment versus the run around opposite way doing it network insurance way.
Insurance companies sell policies not dental services. Their in network dentists are under contract to honor these discounts so they pick and choose what they can make money on. The limited discounted procedures that in network providers can make money forces: restricting appointment times, understaffing, using low cost materials, and cut rate dental labs. All of this lends to low quality results and a poor patient experience.
What they can't make money on is referred out where none of these promised discounts and freebies you bought the insurance policy for are ever realized. What is referred is not based on the dentist's ability to do the procedure so much as it is what he is willing to do for the money the insurance contract he agreed to as a prefered provider mandates. It's a dishonest way to treatment plan a patient and why we are out of network.
It's a destructive trend in which corporations are plundering the profession by seizing it at the patient level through clever marketing and false promises and deceptive discounts. It's a trend the insurance companies unfortunately are winning becuase the vast market share of the patients they direct. It's at the expense of professional intergrity among growing numbers of dentists forced into servicing these plans. It's also tragically at the expense of the unaware policy holder becasue they are mislead into low qaulity ethically compromised dentistry.

We are out of network with all insurnace companies. We use our fee schedule not the insurance company's in network fee schedule. They do not provide us their fee schedule. In some cases their fee schedule is lower than ours, in such instances patient pays the difference.
Our out of network payment policy is as follows:
preventative/ diagnostic (exams, prophy, x-rays)

We collect the patinet % portion day of service. Send claim off to insurance company and wait for insurance % payment. If the insurance payment is less than what we have estimated the patient is billed the difference.
Basic work (fillings)

Major work ( everything else: crowns implants dentures root canals extractions ect ect)

We bill the patient 100% upfront on the day of service and send the claim off to the insurance company. When the payment from the insurance company is recieved we reimburse 100% of this amount back to the patient.
We do our best to estimate the patient portion of major work based on previous experiences with them. We do not file predeterminations as they are often inaccurate to what insurance actually does.
Our knowledgeable staff handles all the claims for your convenience This process usually takes 30 days
Note: insurance is no gaurantee of payment and any unpaid or denied amount is the patient's responsibilty.
